Forest Lake - The courageous men of this place have been hunting the wild animal, which is in the woods southwest of Forest Lake. It has been seen by several people but as yet they have not decided whether it is a panther, catamount, lynx or something else.
Hop Bottom – In our last items we made a mistake. We were informed wrong about Miss Cora Wright teaching at the Acre. We are also thankful towards those who correct the mistakes made. Miss Cora's sister, Miss Lizzie, is teaching in the Colvin District. Also: Some time ago we wrote an item about a temperance lecture at Hop Bottom. We learn recently that it is thrown on Mr. Chas. Williams. We wish to state he had nothing to do with it. We should write the same warning again when needed, for we would like to save our young men by our voice and pen, if possible, and no offense was meant to anyone.

Great Bend - Rev. R.Y. Hazard, and family of the Central Illinois M.E. conference, are visiting their parents and a host of other friends in this vicinity. The Grand Army boys will all remember "Rant" as a "good soldier" who endured "hardness on many a well fought field during the war, and will rejoice to know that he has joined the apostleship of a grander freedom than that only won by the stern arbitrant of arms and the conflict of carnal weapons.
Susquehanna - "Us four" of the [town] Council, at the April meeting: "moved that we dispense with the services of a regular night policeman - unnecessary expense." Carried. May meeting: "Moved that we employ two regular night policemen " Carried, and A firm which manufactures smoking and chewing tobacco has decorated the blank three-story wall of the Sperl building, on the corner of Main and East Main Streets, with a black, white, red and yellow advertisement of their goods in letters from three to five feet in length. The effect is very dazzling, even if it isn’t so pretty.
Dundaff - We have received a neat pamphlet setting forth the advantage of Crystal Lake, in Clifford Township, as a summer resort, with special reference to "Fem Hall," a new hotel at that place, a house capable of taking care, in the best manner, of 75 guests.
Jackson and Gibson - Our citizens organized a Rod and Gun Club. on the 17th inst., for the purpose of enforcing the same laws of this Commonwealth. There have been many violations of the law since the streams in this locality were stocked, and her after, violators of the law brought to the notice of the club, will be brought to justice. W.W. Larrabee, Esq.", is the prosecuting attorney.
