Hop Bottom- Many are the thoughts as to whether both churches are to hold their Christmas exercises on the same evening [Christmas eve]. We think it should be on separate evenings so to allow the masses to attend both entertainments.
Montrose - Prof. James and his teachers of the Montrose School went to Brooklyn Saturday, to attend a teachers' institute. He and Messes Perigo, Kent, Rogers and Birched, started home after the lecture in a double sleigh, and on the way home, in passing a watering trough, the sleigh swerved around and dumped its occupants out. Prof. James holding valiantly to the lines until all hope of rescuing the team was passed, when he let them go. The party did not reach home until Sunday, except the Professor, who walked in. The team was found Sunday morning in H.H. Harrington’s barnyard.
South Gibson - Olin Resseguie has bought the Hop Bottom stage route of Ira Van Alstine, and will take possession Jan. 1.
