COVID-19 Information

*Update May 26, 2020*

We are now open to the public.

Monday - Thursday 9AM-4PM

*Museum is open during the above hours by appointment*

We have new rules we need to observe in order to remain open.

The first one being that we are limiting the number of researchers we will allow in the building. We strongly encourage you to call ahead and make an appointment to ensure we will have space enough for you. You can call us at 570-278-1622.

*If you do not feel comfortable coming in, we do still provide mail in options, click the link here to go to the page that provides information about that.

Rules to follow once you are here.

  • Masks will be required to enter the building.

  • If there is another researcher in the building, we ask that you stay at least 6’ apart.

  • The staff will retrieve any and all materials you as a researcher may need to minimize unnecessary contact to other research materials in the building.

  • We will ask that you wash/sanitize your hands before beginning your research. OR that you wear gloves while handling the materials.

***UPDATE 3/14/20***

On Friday, Governor Tom Wolf announced that all K-12 Pennsylvania schools will be closed for ten business days effective Monday, March 16. Consistent with the Governor’s efforts to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, all public libraries across Pennsylvania should follow this guidance.

Therefore, all Susquehanna County Historical Society & Free Library Association locations will be closed beginning Monday, March 16, as recommended by Governor Wolf.

The Wolf Administration will continue to monitor COVID-19 in the Commonwealth, and at the end of ten days will reevaluate and decide whether continued closure is needed. Plans at this time are to reopen our facilities on Monday, March 30, at 9 a.m.

All items currently checked out to our patrons will be renewed until a date of Tuesday, April 7. Should libraries remain closed for longer than that date, items will be extended.

All meetings and events scheduled for any of our facilities from Monday, March 16 through Sunday, March 29 will not take place as our buildings will be closed.

As always, Thank you for your understanding and support.
